Detailed Description
Designed for those who treat life as the ultimate adventure, the Seiko Prospex line meets every challenge with technological excellence and style. Part of a rich legacy of innovation in high-intensity timekeeping, Prospex continues to celebrate a long history of sports watch excellence with recreations and reinterpretations of landmark achievements. Updated with today's technology and materials, and a sleeker and thinner profile, this extraordinary Limited Edition, available only in a controlled production run of 1,300 with the serial number engraved on each caseback, reimagines Seiko's 1965 diver's watch, the first made in Japan, with a water resistance, legibility and durability that made it standard equipment on the Japanese Antarctic Research Expedition (JARE), and propelled Seiko into the forefront of dive watch design. Paying tribute to underwater archaeology, this reinterpretation features a blue sunray dial with a design inspired by ancient astrolabes, used to find latitude and time based on the position of the stars and the sun. The caliber 8L35 26-jewel automatic movement, hand-assembled at Seiko's Shizukuishi watch studio with the increased torque necessary for smooth operation of the enlarged diver's watch hands, beats at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, with a power reserve of approximately 50 hours, and provides manual winding capability.
